THE NIGERIAN AIR FORCE DESTROYS TERRORIST'S EXPLOSIVE FACTORY IN BORNO
The Nigerian Air Force released a statement stating that the
Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has destroyed terrorists' Improvised
Explosive Devices factory which is located at Grazah, a located in a hidden
Mandara Hills in Borno. These statement was released in the early hour of Thursday
morning by the Director, Public Relations and Information, NAF, AVM Edward
Gabkwet, on 8, August in Abuja
Borno is one of the six states that form the North-East
geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It shares international borders to the North with
Niger and Chad as well as with Cameroon to the East. Its Southern and Western
borders are shared with Adamawa, Gombe and Yobe States. Maiduguri is the state
capital. The state is in the Northern part of Nigeria and it consists of the
Hausa tribe.
Borno State has an area of 57,798.2 square kilometres. It
lies roughly at latitude 11°30’ North and longitude 13°00’ East. Its population
is 4,171,104 (2006 census) 5,860,183 (2016 forecast) with a population density
of 72. The state accounts for 2.9% of Nigeria’s total population.
The first settlers of Borno State were known to be the Teda
(Tibesti), Kanuri and Kanembu who lived around the state’s lake and rivers.
These people were also called Sao. The Sefawa later displaced them in the
fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
About few days ago there has been a news of suicide bombers
who murdered people 18 people in Borno state after four bombers set off an
improvised explosive devices. After the bomb blast it left 30 people injured
and 18 people injured.
