Ellen DeGeneres Stage Crew Lacks Communication During Covid-19 Pandemic

Crew members from The Ellen DeGeneres Show are outraged and distressed over their treatment from top producers amid the corona virus pandemic. According to variety magazine, more than 30 employees say they received no written communication about the status of their working hours, and pay or inquiries about their mental and physical health for over a month. After the Ellen DegeneresDeGen halted production in March due to COVID-19, Ellen returned on April 6 filming from the comfort of her home. 30 crew members were just told last week by top producers that they would receive a staggering 60% decrease in their wages. Ellen earns $87.5 million per year and has a net worth estimated at $490 million. The crew members were also furious after learning that the show hired Key Code Media-a non union tech firm to help Ellen tape her show from home. Warner Brothers Television, which distributes the show, told Variety that employees have been paid regularly, but at reduced hours. Warner Bros also acknowledged that it could have done a better job communicating with employees, but partly blamed the chaos caused on the coronavirus outbreak.
